Lauren, counsellor at The Held Space

About

Hello, I'm Lauren.

Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.

I'm an integrative counsellor, working relationally and drawing from different therapeutic approaches to meet you as the whole person you are.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful therapy. This is where we will begin, creating a space that feels safe and trustworthy.

I work with people who may be carrying the impact of trauma, difficult relationships, sexual or domestic violence, loss, overwhelm, suicidal ideation, self-harm, or experiences that have left them struggling to understand themselves.

What we experience in life can shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others and how we cope with life's complexities. It might feel difficult to make sense of your thoughts or feelings. Together, we can begin to make sense of what might be happening for you.

You don't need to have anything figured out before you come to counselling. We can start wherever you are. Please feel free to get in touch to talk about how we might work together.

Questions

Things people often ask.

What is counselling?
Counselling is a safe space for you to talk openly about whatever you're carrying, at your own pace and without judgement. It isn't about being told what to do — it's a chance to feel truly heard, make sense of what you're feeling, and, with someone alongside you, find your own way forward.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us, within the ethical framework I work to. I'll explain the small number of exceptions (such as risk of serious harm) clearly at the start, so you always know where you stand.
What happens on the free call?
It's a relaxed 15-minute conversation — no pressure and nothing you need to prepare. You can ask anything, and we'll get a sense together of whether I'm the right person to support you.
What if I'm not sure counselling is right for me?
That's completely normal. The free call is there for exactly this. If counselling isn't your next step, I can suggest other options and directions that might suit you better.
Do we meet online, by phone, or in person?
Sessions are offered online and by telephone, whichever feels more comfortable. Face-to-face sessions are available on request — just mention it when you get in touch.
What's your cancellation policy?
[ Add your policy here — for example, sessions cancelled with more than 48 hours' notice can be rearranged free of charge. ]

You don't have to have it all worked out to begin.
